Topsoil moisture supplies were 7 percent very short, 28 percent short, 64 percent adequate and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 6 percent very short, 22 percent short, and 72 percent adequate.
Fall tillage was 56 percent complete, near 61 percent for the 5-year average.
The Pennsylvania apple harvested neared completion at 95 percent complete.
Corn harvested for grain was 46 percent complete, behind the 5-year average of 54 percent.
The soybean harvest was 45 percent complete, also behind the 5-year average of 65 percent complete.
Barley planted was 73 percent complete, with 12 percent of it emerged. The 5-year average is 80 percent emerged.
Winter wheat planted reached 65 percent, behind the 81 percent average. Winter wheat emerged was 22 percent.
