The Center for Dairy Excellence has introduced a new initiative to support the dairy community with the launch of the “All Things Dairy” monthly conference call. The call aims to keep dairy farmers, industry partners, and professionals updated on the latest news, resources, and events. The first session will take place on Wednesday, June 11 at 1 p.m. EST. These calls will continue on the second Wednesday of each month.
“These new calls will highlight current news and developments in the dairy industry, helping dairy farmers and industry professionals stay informed, connected, and equipped with the tools you need to navigate an ever-changing marketplace,” said Valerie Mason-Faith, Risk Education Manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence. “The June call will include helpful updates on two diseases currently impacting the global dairy landscape, preparedness efforts at the state level, and what this all means for dairy professionals.”
The June 11 call will focus on two critical animal health concerns — New World Screwworm (NWS) and Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). Dr. Alex Hamberg, the Pennsylvania State Veterinarian, will discuss the NWS outbreak in Mexico, ongoing efforts to prevent its spread to the U.S., and its impact on livestock industries. He will also provide an update on HPAI in the U.S., including Pennsylvania’s testing efforts and biosecurity measures.
Additionally, Dr. Aminata Kalley from the PA Department of Agriculture will speak on Foot and Mouth Disease. She will explain the disease, its global situation, and state-level preparedness actions.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions live during the call.
