Pennsylvania Farm Bureau President Chris Hoffman released a statement following the U.S. Senate’s approval of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, emphasizing its importance to agriculture.
“Pennsylvania Farm Bureau commends the U.S. Senate for passing the reconciliation package. This legislation is crucial for farmers and ranchers, who are the backbone of America’s food supply chain. The legislation offers the security farmers and ranchers need through improved farm safety net programs that align with today’s agricultural economy and by maintaining key tax provisions, both of which will directly benefit their families,” said Hoffman.
He noted that many family farms are struggling due to declining commodity prices and rising production costs, leading to increased consolidation in the agricultural sector. The bill includes updates such as higher reference prices and additional investments in conservation, agricultural research, and trade, which Hoffman said are long overdue, considering the last farm bill was enacted seven years ago.
“Additionally, important tax benefits will enable farmers to manage expenses, adopt new technologies, and facilitate generational transfers of family farms. Pennsylvania Farm Bureau now urges the House to pass the bill and send it to the President for his signature, ensuring continued food security for American families,” Hoffman added.
