According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 6.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday. Topsoil moisture supplies were 14 percent very short, 45 percent short, and 41 percent adequate. Subsoil moisture supplies were 19 percent very short, 40 percent short, and 41 percent adequate.
The Pennsylvania apple crop harvest was 35 percent complete. Apples rated 2 percent poor, 13 percent fair and 85 percent good. The peach harvest advanced to 56 percent, up from 31 percent the previous week, but behind last year's page of 63 percent and the 5-year average of 77 percent.
Tobacco cut was 92 percent complete, about on par with last year's 93 percent and ahead of the 5-year average of 80 percent.
Pennsylvania corn at dough was 75 percent and about par with the 5-year average of 77 percent. Corn dented was 40 percent, behind the average of 46 percent. Corn height was 92 inches, also behind last year's 102 inches. The corn crop was rated 7 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 47 percent good and 10 percent excellent.
Soybeans setting pods reached 90 percent, well ahead of last year's 79 percent. The soybean crop rated 10 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 41 percent good and 9 percent excellent.
