Dr. Julie Callahan, a longtime trade expert with the U.S. Trade Representative’s office, has been nominated to become the country’s next Chief Agriculture Negotiator. The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) has issued a public statement of support.
Mike Seyfert, President and CEO of NGFA, praised the nomination, saying Dr. Callahan’s leadership and experience are essential to U.S. agriculture. He highlighted her decade of service and noted her commitment to promoting American agriculture in global markets.
Dr. Callahan would oversee agricultural trade talks, working to open new markets and ensure fair treatment of U.S. food and farm products. This includes reducing trade barriers and making sure American farmers have access to international opportunities.
Her nomination now goes to the Senate Finance Committee for review. If confirmed, she will become a key voice in U.S. trade policy, representing farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses during international negotiations.
Dr. Callahan has earned respect across the agriculture community for her knowledge of trade agreements and dedication to solving trade issues. She is known for her clear understanding of both government processes and real-world farming needs.
NGFA’s support reflects the agriculture sector’s confidence in her leadership. With growing international competition and rising global demand for food, having a strong trade leader is vital to the future of U.S. agriculture.
