The U.S. Department of Agriculture has projected winter wheat production for 2025 at 1.38 billion bushels, marking a 2% increase compared to 2024.

As of May 1, the national average yield is forecast at 53.7 bushels per acre, which is 2.0 bushels higher than last year’s 51.7 bushels.

However, the area expected to be harvested for grain or seed is estimated at 25.7 million acres, reflecting a 1% decrease from the previous year.

Breaking it down by variety, Hard Red Winter wheat is expected to reach 784 million bushels, a 2% rise from last year. Soft Red Winter wheat is projected at 345 million bushels, representing a 1% increase.

White Winter wheat is forecast at 253 million bushels, up 7% from 2024. Of this total, 20.6 million bushels are classified as Hard White, while 232 million bushels are Soft White.

For the 2024-2025 season, the U.S. all orange forecast stands at 2.46 million tons. While this shows a slight improvement from the previous estimate, it represents an 8% decline from the 2023-2024 utilization.

In Florida, total orange production is forecast at 11.6 million boxes (523,000 tons), nearly unchanged from last month’s outlook but down 36% from last season.

The forecast includes 4.58 million boxes of early, midseason, and Navel varieties, and 7.05 million boxes of Valencia oranges.
