Understanding agricultural law - webinar series

By Blake Jackson

The Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law, in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Business Development Center (ABDC), is pleased to announce the next installment in their "Understanding Agricultural Law" webinar series.

"Understanding the Basics of Pennsylvania's Agricultural Area Security Law" will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET. This complimentary webinar is designed to equip Pennsylvania's agricultural community and legal professionals with a comprehensive understanding of this critical legislation.

Enacted in 1981, Pennsylvania's Agricultural Area Security Law serves as a cornerstone for protecting agricultural operations from the encroachment of urbanization. The webinar will provide an in-depth exploration of the law's two key provisions:

  • The Agricultural Security Area Program: This program safeguards agricultural land by offering protection against restrictive local regulations and potential condemnation by state agencies.
  • The Pennsylvania Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program: This program facilitates the conservation of agricultural land by enabling farmers to sell development rights to the state.

By attending this informative session, Pennsylvania farmers will gain valuable insights into their legal protections, while legal professionals can enhance their understanding of this specialized area of agricultural law. Additionally, Pennsylvania-licensed attorneys can earn one hour of substantive CLE credit at no charge.

Registration details And further information regarding the webinar can be found on the Penn State Center for Agricultural and Shale Law website.
