Agriculture ranks among the most dangerous and demanding professions, often placing farmers and farm workers at greater risk for both physical injuries and mental health challenges.
These health and safety concerns not only affect personal well-being but also influence a farm’s productivity and financial stability.
To better understand these issues, the Penn State Agricultural Safety and Health Program is inviting farmers, farm workers, and their families to share their experiences through a short survey.
The goal is to gather insights into the everyday health and safety realities of agricultural life and identify the kinds of support and solutions that would be most helpful.
The information collected will guide future Penn State Extension programming and also serve to educate policymakers, agricultural organizations, and support agencies about the needs and well-being of the farming community.
The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and is entirely confidential. Participants will also have the chance to enter a raffle to win a farm safety item as a token of appreciation.
Prize options include a slow-moving vehicle (SMV) sign, PTO shield cover, lockout-tagout kit, anti-vibration gloves, or a high-visibility t-shirt for kids.
The survey is available online. Those preferring a paper copy can contact Florence Becot at 814-865-1783 or via email at ffb5072@psu.edu.
