Penn State Extension is hosting Pasture Walks with Extension: Equine, an interactive, in-person workshop focused on practical strategies to enhance pasture quality.
The event will take place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blue Rock Farm, located at 1102 Allerton Road, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Designed for horse and livestock owners, the workshop offers a hands-on learning experience in a working farm environment. Participants will have the opportunity to walk through pastures and explore real-world approaches to pasture management.
Topics will include the principles of effective pasture management, techniques for improving soil fertility, identification of common forages and weeds, and methods for evaluating pasture condition and productivity. These insights are applicable to both equine operations and a variety of other livestock enterprises.
Led by Penn State Extension educators, the program will be held outdoors and will proceed rain or shine, so attendees should be prepared for field conditions.
Space is limited, and preregistration is required by August 18, 2025, at 11:45 p.m. This workshop offers a valuable opportunity for farm owners to gain knowledge that can directly benefit their operations and improve the health and productivity of their pastures.
