Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that three dairy farms in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District will receive a total of $1,254,169 in federal funding.
The funds will be used for equipment upgrades and infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing milk production in Western Pennsylvania.
The awarded farms include Turner Dairy Farms, receiving $750,000; Broadrun Farms, formerly Caldwell Farms, receiving $43,451; and Brunton Dairy, which experienced a major fire in 2023, receiving $460,718.
“Pennsylvania cows make the best milk,” said Congressman Deluzio. “Our dairy farmers work hard to provide fresh, healthy milk and dairy products. I will always work to bring home federal funding, and I’m proud to see this money help local dairy farmers modernize their equipment and facilities.”
The funding was awarded through the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program, a partnership between Pennsylvania and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
RFSI offers dollar-for-dollar matching grants to support food processing, aggregation, and distribution efforts across multiple farms to better meet the demand for local, fresh food.
Concerns remain over efforts by the Administration to freeze federal grants, causing uncertainty for some recipients.
While many of these freezes have been temporarily halted by the courts, Congressman Deluzio encourages affected grantees to contact his office at PA17Grants@mail.house.gov with any issues accessing authorized funding.
