Penn state summit to discuss PA Ag resilience

Penn state summit to discuss PA Ag resilience

By Blake Jackson

The Penn State University Park Undergraduate Association is hosting a summit on Pennsylvania agriculture on [date] from 12:00-4:00 p.m. EST in room 233 AB of the HUB-Robeson Center. The summit will focus on three key issues facing Pennsylvania farmers:

The increase of farm stress within small family farms and farm communities

The effects of the global food market's volatility on Pennsylvania farmers

The need to improve relations between local producers and Penn State University regarding building stronger localized food systems

The goal of the summit is to bring together student leaders, distinguished faculty from all the university's academic colleges, and university administrators to contribute their knowledge and expertise to these roundtable discussions. The Undergraduate Association understands the importance of building student interest in agriculture for the long-term socioeconomic benefit of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and they strongly believe that it is the duty of Penn State University, a land grant institution founded as an agricultural school, to ensure the resilience of Pennsylvania agriculture.

The summit is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend.
