New Alliance Boosts Feed Safety Monitoring

New Alliance Boosts Feed Safety Monitoring

By Jamie Martin

A new collaboration between Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech is expected to strengthen mycotoxin testing and analysis for feed and livestock producers around the world. The partnership combines rapid testing technology with advanced data interpretation tools to help the agriculture industry manage feed safety risks more effectively.

Mycotoxins remain a significant challenge for crop production and livestock production. Produced by molds that grow grains and other feed ingredients, these toxins can affect animal health, lower productivity, and increase production costs. With changing weather patterns contributing to more frequent contamination risks, many agricultural businesses are seeking better monitoring and management tools.

The new alliance brings together the strengths of both companies. ProGnosis Biotech specializes in rapid testing solutions that provide quick results, while Alltech offers digital platforms that transform testing data into meaningful insights.

The integration of ProGnosis testing technology with the Alltech RAPIREAD™ platform will give users access to both test results and advanced analysis. Rather than simply reporting contamination levels, the system will provide information that helps users understand risk levels and make informed management decisions.

This approach supports producers, nutritionists, feed manufacturers, and animal health professionals throughout the feed and livestock value chain. Better data can help identify potential challenges earlier and allow operations to respond more efficiently.

Weather-related factors continue to influence crop quality across many regions. Drought conditions, heat stress, and excessive rainfall can all increase the likelihood of mold development and mycotoxin contamination. These challenges reinforce the need for reliable and timely testing programs.

By combining diagnostic tools with trend analysis, the partnership aims to deliver a more complete picture of feed safety conditions. Users can benefit from rapid detection while also receiving information that supports long-term planning and risk mitigation.

The first phase of the collaboration will focus on Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, where mycotoxin concerns continue to grow. The companies believe the region offers an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the value of integrated testing and analytics solutions.

“Alltech RAPIREAD™ allows users to understand their true mycotoxin risk as it relates to animal performance and health,” said Dr. Alexandra Weaver, global technical support for Alltech. “The collaboration between Alltech and ProGnosis gives those in the agricultural industry the ability to not only test for mycotoxins but also gain insights about their data.”

Industry leaders note that producers increasingly need access to localized intelligence in addition to laboratory results. Data-driven insights can help improve feed purchasing decisions, ingredient selection, and livestock management practices.

The partnership also highlights the growing role of digital agriculture in modern production systems. Farmers and feed companies are looking for technologies that convert data into practical recommendations, allowing them to improve efficiency while protecting animal health.

As global agriculture faces new production and environmental challenges, stronger testing and monitoring systems will play an important role in maintaining feed quality. The collaboration between Alltech and ProGnosis Biotech represents another step toward providing producers with the tools needed to identify risks quickly and respond with confidence.

“ProGnosis Biotech is dedicated to the development of fast and simple testing solutions to ensure food safety throughout the supply chain,” said Sebastien Poisson, business development manager at ProGnosis. “Integrating ProGnosis Biotech’s rapid lateral flow test strips into Alltech’s RAPIREAD™ platform seamlessly fuses ProGnosis’ readers with Alltech’s global risk-management platform, combining rapid testing with automated trend and risk analysis.”

Through the combination of rapid testing, automated analysis, and actionable insights, the partnership aims to support better feed safety management and stronger livestock performance across the agricultural sector.
