Individuals with experience in Pennsylvania's dairy industry are encouraged to volunteer at the Calving Corner during the 2027 Pennsylvania Farm Show, scheduled for January 9-16, 2026, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The exhibit will celebrate its 10th anniversary by providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about dairy farming and witness the birthing process firsthand.
Located in the Destination Dairy Northeast Exhibit Hall, the Calving Corner has become an educational attraction for families and visitors of all ages.
The exhibit offers interactive learning activities that explain dairy production and help consumers understand where their food comes from. It also provides a live stream throughout the Farm Show, attracting more than 55,000 virtual viewers annually.
“Volunteering at the Calving Corner is an exciting way to help share the story of Pennsylvania dairy farming directly with consumers and families. Farm Show visitors not only witness the miracle of birth and learn where their food comes from, but it’s a rewarding way to help enhance the public’s understanding of production agriculture," said Miriam Miller, Project Manager for the Calving Corner.
"We’re excited to be celebrating 10 years with this exhibit. We appreciate our farmers and dairy industry volunteers who give their time each year to share their firsthand experience with Calving Corner visitors.”
Four Pennsylvania dairy farms will participate in the 2027 exhibit, sharing their experiences and demonstrating the dairy birthing process. Cows from Walmoore Holsteins in Chester County and Star Rock Farms, Franklin View Farms, and Conley Farms in Lancaster County will be featured. Calving activities will take place throughout the eight-day event.
Volunteer positions are open to dairy farmers, veterinarians, nutritionists, agricultural industry representatives, college students, and other professionals with practical dairy industry knowledge. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and willing to complete a short online training program.
Selected volunteers will receive a Calving Corner sweatshirt and should wear appropriate clothing, including clean, neat jeans or khakis, while serving at the exhibit.
Businesses and organizations can also support the initiative through sponsorship opportunities, helping expand public awareness of agriculture and dairy farming.
