Farmers face a lot of stress, and it can be difficult to deal with. Penn State Extension offers resources to help farmers manage stress, including workshops and podcasts.
One workshop, "Mending the Stress Fence," teaches farmers how to identify their stressors and develop coping strategies. It also introduces a five-step approach to alleviating farm stress developed by South Dakota State Extension, which encourages farmers to connect with others experiencing similar woes.
Another workshop, "Navigating Farm Succession Planning," offers insight into succession planning, which can be a complex and stressful process for farming families. The podcast "Farm Stress Real Talk" also features an episode on succession planning, which emphasizes the importance of starting the planning process early and communicating with everyone involved.
If you or someone you know is a farmer who is struggling with stress, reach out to Penn State Extension. They have the skills and resources to help.
