Celebrate Beef Day at the Great New York State Fair

By Blake Jackson

The Great New York State Fair will celebrate Beef Day on Tuesday, August 26, showcasing New York’s beef industry through exciting activities, education, and entertainment. In collaboration with the New York Beef Council, the event highlights the importance of beef production and its role in New York agriculture.

Beef Day features a full day of activities, including gate giveaways, an interactive educational booth near the Beef Barn, and the highly anticipated Supreme Show. This livestock event brings together the best female cattle from county fairs across New York, celebrating excellence in breeding and showcasing the hard work of New York’s youth in agriculture.

State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball emphasized the importance of these events, noting that they offer fairgoers a chance to learn about the state’s agricultural industry. Fair Director Julie LaFave added that Beef Day continues to be a popular and exciting part of the fair, with many engaging competitions and educational activities.

This year’s Beef Day will include free cow ear headbands for the first 1,000 children, an interactive booth offering recipe cards and beef facts, and a demonstration at the Dairy Birthing Tent to show the link between dairy and beef industries.

The event will also feature the Supreme Show in the Beef Barn, a highlight of the fair, where top cattle compete for recognition. The New York Beef Council will participate throughout the day, offering photo opportunities and sharing educational materials on beef production, cooking, and health benefits.

Ashley Scoones, Executive Director of the New York Beef Council, expressed excitement about celebrating Beef Day, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about the nutritional benefits of beef and the hardworking farmers behind the industry.
