By Blake Jackson

Pennsylvania farmers made good progress on fieldwork during the week ending October 22, 2023, despite limited rainfall. According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 5.0 days suitable for fieldwork during the week.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 10 percent short, 81 percent adequate, and 9 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0 percent very short, 12 percent short, 85 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus.

Farmers are hopeful for some rain in the coming weeks to help improve soil moisture conditions. However, the overall outlook for the Pennsylvania crop harvest is positive.
