Beef producers and new farmers will have the opportunity to explore breeding strategies at an upcoming in-person workshop hosted at the Susquehanna County Library in Montrose, Pennsylvania.
This free event is scheduled for April 15, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, with registration closing at 7:30 PM on the same day.
The session will focus on the advantages and challenges of artificial insemination (AI) versus natural service in beef cattle breeding.
Attendees will hear firsthand insights from an experienced breeder who has worked with both approaches, offering valuable knowledge for those looking to improve their herd management.
Artificial insemination can offer genetic improvements, controlled breeding schedules, and reduced disease risks, but it also comes with challenges such as higher costs and labor demands.
On the other hand, natural service is often considered more convenient and cost-effective, but it requires maintaining a breeding bull, which comes with its own management concerns.
This interactive workshop will provide essential information on reproductive efficiency in beef cattle and help participants make informed decisions about which breeding method best suits their operation. Light snacks will be available during the event.
For anyone interested in enhancing their cattle breeding knowledge, this is a great opportunity to engage with industry professionals and gain practical insights.
