The 2025 PA Farm Show officially opened its doors, kicking off eight days of celebrating Pennsylvania's agricultural heritage and its impact on the state's future.
The theme, "Powering Pennsylvania," highlights the essential role agriculture plays in our daily lives, communities, and the economy.
"Governor Josh Shapiro recognized the power of agriculture from day one of his administration, committing to support economic opportunity for our farmers through meaningful action and resources," said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding.
"Throughout the eight-day celebration of Farm Show, we hope you’ll join us to meet the people who power Pennsylvania, and see the progress fueled by their innovations and ingenuity and fed by unprecedented Shapiro Administration investments that are empowering our future as an economic powerhouse. Ring in the New Year by celebrating the agricultural legacy that provides the fuel for our daily lives, and the promise of a powerful, productive future together.”
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Governor Shapiro's administration, including Deputy Agriculture Secretary Lisa Graybeal, and Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson.
Mounted PA State Police, a color guard, and the singing of the National Anthem by a local youth added to the festive atmosphere.
Governor Shapiro's commitment to agriculture is evident in his recent budget, which allocates $10 million to a new Agriculture Innovation and Conservation program.
This program aims to support farmers in adopting cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, ensuring the longevity of their businesses and promoting environmental responsibility.
“There’s no question agriculture is a powerful sector of Pennsylvania’s economy,” said DCED Secretary Rick Siger. “One in every ten jobs in our Commonwealth are agriculture-related, and agriculture contributes more than $132 billion dollars annually to our economy. Governor Shapiro’s 10-year economic development strategic plan doubles down on these advantages to create quality jobs for Pennsylvanians and strengthen our communities.”
The 2025 PA Farm Show offers a variety of attractions for visitors, including the iconic 1,000-pound butter sculpture, a tempting food court, agricultural competitions, cooking demonstrations, and educational exhibits.
It's a chance to learn about Pennsylvania's diverse agricultural industry and meet the people who make it possible.
