USDA Physical Loss Loans Available for Flooded PA Farms

USDA Physical Loss Loans Available for Flooded PA Farms

By Blake Jackson

Farmers and agricultural producers in Pennsylvania impacted by recent flooding may be eligible for Physical Loss Loans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). These loans are designed to help operations recover by repairing or replacing essential property that was damaged or destroyed as a result of the disaster.

Physical Loss Loans may be used to restore key assets critical to farm productivity. Eligible losses can include damage to farm buildings, permanent fixtures, and equipment, as well as losses of livestock.

Producers may also receive assistance for damaged perennial crops, fruit- and nut-bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay that were affected by flooding conditions.

Lycoming County has been designated as the primary eligible county for this disaster assistance. In addition, producers in surrounding counties may also qualify for support. Contiguous counties approved for eligibility include Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Sullivan, Tioga, and Union counties in Pennsylvania.

Producers seeking assistance must submit applications by August 24, 2026. Those who experienced losses are encouraged to act promptly to ensure timely consideration.

For guidance on filing a Notice of Loss, determining eligibility, or learning more about available USDA disaster assistance programs, producers should contact their local USDA Service Center.
