The Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center is set to host the All-American Dairy Show and Premier National Jr. Show this weekend, bringing together more than 1,200 top adult and youth competitors from 33 states and Canada.
The event will feature 21 dairy cattle contests from September 13-17, highlighting seven dairy breeds, cattle-judging competitions, and youth-focused programs that prepare the next generation of dairy leaders.
The Shapiro Administration emphasizes support for this volunteer-run national showcase as part of its commitment to strengthening Pennsylvania’s dairy sector. Local dairy families will stand among the leading competitors.
“Pennsylvania is proud of our hardworking dairy farm families and the top-quality, nutritious products they produce 365 days a year,” said Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. “We are honored to host their peers from across the nation to showcase excellence in dairy breeding and animal husbandry demonstrated by the best in the business today and youth aspiring to fill their shoes tomorrow.”
The state’s bipartisan 2024-25 budget reflects that commitment, with $215,000 directed to the All-American Dairy Show, $169,000 for youth livestock events, and $1.45 million for the Pennsylvania Center for Dairy Excellence.
Continued investments also support buy-local initiatives like PA Preferred and Scooped: An Ice Cream Trail, which connect visitors with dairy families and their products.
In addition, 20 dairy farms were awarded grants through the Agricultural Innovation Grant Program, part of a $10 million investment supporting new technology for conservation, renewable energy, and profitability. Governor Josh Shapiro has proposed expanding this program by $13 million due to strong demand.
Pennsylvania remains a dairy powerhouse, with nearly 5,000 farms and 468,000 cows producing 10 billion pounds of milk annually.
The industry generates $11.8 billion for the economy and sustains more than 47,000 jobs. The state also ranks second in butter production and third in both ice cream and Swiss cheese.
“We have another top-notch event planned and we’re excited to welcome dairy enthusiasts from across the country to join us in Harrisburg,” said All-American Dairy Show President Michelle Cornman. “We look forward to showcasing our junior exhibitors and seeing some of the best cattle in the country, while offering valuable learning opportunities and enjoying the fellowship of friends.”
