Pennsylvania Peach Harvest Nears Completion



According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 5.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 2 percent very short, 35 percent short, 55 percent adequate, and 8 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 2 percent very short, 50 percent short, and 48 percent adequate.

Fall tillage was 23 percent complete, ahead of last year's 17 percent but near the 5-year average of 27 percent.

The apple harvest was 62 percent complete, on par with the 5-year average of 63 percent.

Peaches harvested was nearing completion at 95 percent, slightly behind last year's 97 percent but equal with the 5-year average.
