Pennsylvania farmers had 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, November 5, 2023, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Soil moisture conditions were mostly adequate to surplus, with no areas of very short or short topsoil moisture and only 10% of the state experiencing short subsoil moisture.
Fieldwork
Pennsylvania farmers made progress with fieldwork last week, including harvesting corn and soybeans.
Crop Progress
The corn harvest was 46% complete by the end of the week, ahead of the 5-year average of 61%. The soybean harvest was 63% complete, also ahead of the 5-year average of 69%.
Soil Moisture
Topsoil moisture supplies were 0% very short, 6% short, 90% adequate, and 4% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 0% very short, 10% short, 89% adequate, and 1% surplus.
