National Ag Day Reminds Politicians that Agriculture Matters

By Jamie Martin

National Ag Day 2025 was celebrated on March 18 with nationwide events, speeches, and educational outreach aimed at recognizing the hard work of American agricultural producers. From Washington D.C. to small-town communities, the message was clear—agriculture matters.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins praised American producers during a special address. “Today on National Agriculture Day, we recognize the people who make it all possible. The farmers, the ranchers, and the producers who dedicate their lives to feeding, to fueling, and to clothing our nation,” she stated.

President Trump’s proclamation highlighted agriculture’s deep roots in the American economy and its role in shaping the country’s prosperity and culture. The statement applauded the commitment and resilience of those working in agriculture today.

The USDA hosted Ag Day activities, including remarks by Deputy Under Secretary Brooke Appleton and a youth panel led by Miles Chiotti from John Deere.

Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall delivered a special message of appreciation, further boosting morale and unity among attendees.

Student-focused events were a highlight, with networking sessions, a fun pizza party, and meetings with ag policymakers offering students insight into agriculture careers. A closing reception celebrated the shared success of agriculture in the U.S.

Online, National Ag Day gained incredible traction. Over 7,800 social posts reached more than 75 million users, and over 10,000 mentions in online and broadcast media pushed the total reach to an estimated 4 billion people.

These coordinated efforts showcased America’s deep appreciation for agriculture and the people who make it thrive.
