On April 10, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM ET, a free webinar will offer an in-depth introduction to the practice of forest farming, focusing on ramps, also known as wild leeks.
These prized non-timber forest products are highly valued for their unique flavor and are commonly found in wooded areas across the eastern United States.
Whether you’re interested in cultivating ramps for personal use or as a potential source of income, this session will provide valuable insights into their sustainable harvesting and cultivation.
This webinar is designed for a wide range of participants, including forest landowners, foragers (both recreational and commercial), chefs, gardeners, natural resource agency personnel, and agroforesters.
During the event, attendees will learn how to identify ramps, distinguish them from look-alike plants, and understand their preferred growing habitat. The session will also cover best practices for cultivating ramps in a way that preserves native ecosystems.
Registration is required to participate in the live event, and all registrants will receive a link to access the webinar recording, which will be available for six months following the event.
This offers an excellent opportunity for those unable to attend the live session to benefit from the educational content.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn about one of Pennsylvania’s most beloved wild plants and gain knowledge to enhance your agroforestry practices.
