Penn State Extension is hosting an in-person workshop titled Dairy Housing Options: My Tie Stall Is Worn Out, Now What? on December 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center, located at 1383 Arcadia Rd, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
This event will provide valuable insights into various dairy housing options, including tie stalls, freestalls, and bedded packs, with a focus on creating low-cost milking facilities and updating existing tie stalls.
Farmers who are considering changes to their current dairy housing setup, those taking over family farms, or anyone starting from scratch will benefit from this workshop.
Participants will learn about the principles of building and managing different types of dairy housing, as well as best practices for managing cows in groups. This session will also cover the cost-effective approaches to updating milking facilities to improve efficiency.
The workshop is supported by Allied PA Dairy Industries and Ephrata National Bank. To attend, farmers must register by December 6, 2024, at 11:45 PM.
