Exciting new events at 2025 Farm Show

By Blake Jackson

The 2025 Pennsylvania Farm Show, the state’s largest indoor agricultural event, is set to take place from January 4 to 11 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg. Visitors can enjoy the food court starting at noon on January 3, with free parking available. This year’s theme, Powering Pennsylvania, highlights the state’s agricultural strength and innovation.

As always, the Farm Show features beloved traditions such as square dancing, animal judging, and the chocolate cake contest, alongside exciting new additions. Highlights of the 2025 event include a keynote speech by Dr. Temple Grandin on January 9 in the Small Arena. Grandin, a renowned professor, author, and autism advocate, will speak as part of the Celebrating Women Powering Agriculture program, which includes discussions, demonstrations, and networking opportunities spotlighting women leaders in agriculture.

Other new attractions include mini highland cows for petting and photos, courtesy of Swartz Farm, and new judging categories such as Oberholsi dairy goats, cow/calf teams, dry and sweet fruit ciders, fall-themed quilt designs, garden tractors, and home vegetable canning. Youth participants will compete in the first-ever Turkey Showmanship event.

Visitors can also attend the Live Line Electrical Safety demonstration by PPL on January 9 in the Equine Arena, where tips on farm safety around power lines will be shared.

Chef Jet Tila, known for his appearances on popular cooking shows, will perform live culinary demonstrations on January 5 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the PA Preferred Culinary Connection stage.
