Penn State Extension is hosting an informative session, Application of Biosecurity Practices for Small Flocks, aimed at educating poultry owners on effective biosecurity measures.
Scheduled for April 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, this in-person event will take place at Penn State Extension Cumberland County, 310 Allen Road, Carlisle, Pennsylvania 17013. Those interested must register by April 4, 2025, at 12:00 AM.
This program is designed to help small flock poultry owners, 4-H and FFA families, and anyone interested in poultry health gain a deeper understanding of biosecurity principles.
With the ongoing risk of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and other diseases, implementing proper biosecurity measures is crucial to protecting flocks.
Attendees will learn essential biosecurity practices, including recommended supplies and strategies for different housing styles and property layouts.
The session will also cover current HPAI information, valuable resources, and key contacts to assist poultry owners in disease prevention.
By adopting biosecurity best practices, poultry owners can reduce the risk of disease outbreaks and ensure the long-term health of their flocks.
This training provides the necessary knowledge and tools to safeguard poultry operations against potential threats. For more details and registration, visit the Penn State Extension website.
