By Blake Jackson

Penn State’s Ag Progress Days is back in full swing, offering a three-day extravaganza for agriculture enthusiasts of all ages.

Held August 13-15 at the Russell E. Larson Agricultural Research Center in Ferguson Township, this premier agricultural expo promises a diverse array of demonstrations, activities, and educational opportunities.

As one of the largest agricultural expos in the eastern United States, Ag Progress Days attracts over 45,000 visitors annually. The event boasts nearly 500 commercial and educational exhibits, showcasing the latest in agricultural technology, equipment, and research.

From field machinery and milking systems to financial services and insurance, attendees will find a vast selection of products and services.

A highlight of this year’s event is the College of Agricultural Sciences Exhibits Building, dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge technologies transforming the agricultural landscape.

Visitors can explore advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and biotechnology, and learn how these innovations are driving economic growth while protecting the environment.

Beyond technology, Ag Progress Days offers a wealth of educational opportunities. Experts in animal health, including avian influenza, will be on hand to address pressing concerns.

Soil health, native bee pollinators, and sustainable agriculture practices are among the many topics covered in informative presentations and demonstrations.

Families and children are not forgotten. The 4-H Youth Building provides interactive activities and introduces young visitors to the world of agriculture.

A corn maze, kids’ tractor pulls, and the Pasto Agricultural Museum offer additional fun and educational experiences.

For those interested in the behind-the-scenes of agriculture, guided tours of the research center provide insights into crop production, livestock evaluation, and organic farming.

The Agricultural Safety Area and Rural Health and Safety Tent offer vital information on farm safety and emergency preparedness.

Food enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of culinary delights, from hot sandwiches to ice cream. The Family Room building focuses on healthy living, with cooking demonstrations and nutrition advice.

Ag Progress Days is more than just an expo; it’s a celebration of agriculture. Whether you’re a seasoned farmer, a curious consumer, or simply looking for a fun family outing, this event offers something for everyone.
