The wet and cool conditions over the past ten to fourteen days have erased much of the 60- and 90-day precipitation deficits across central and eastern PA, though some areas still are running a couple of inches behind normal levels.
High pressure will park over the Northeast for the remainder of the week with seasonal to slightly-above-average temperatures as afternoon highs reach the upper 60’s to upper 70’s statewide and little in the way of widespread precipitation. A surface low crossing the Central Plains late in the week will pull moisture northward into the region by late Friday into Saturday, leading to the potential for some showers or storms to develop. The threat of scattered showers and storms will remain through the weekend though most places will remain dry for much of the time until the aforementioned low arrives in the region late Sunday. As the low crosses the state late Sunday into Monday, periods of rain will develop along with the arrival of cooler air as an upper-level trough establishes itself early next week. Cooler and unsettled weather will likely continue through at least the middle of next week.
