On May 21, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) staff will be attending the Warren County Conservation District's "Save the Rain" workshop. The event, which was partially funded by a DEP Environmental Education Grant, is designed to use rain barrel art to pique interest in reducing nonpoint source pollution.
The event will be held at Ekey's Florist & Greenhouse on Market Street in Warren beginning at 10 a.m.
The Environmental Education Grants Program was established by the Environmental Education Act of 1993, which mandates setting aside 5% of the pollution fines and penalties DEP collects annually for environmental education in Pennsylvania. Since its inception, the DEP has awarded $12.3 million in environmental education grant funding to support 2,135 projects.
Rain barrels painted by local students will be included during the workshop's raffle.
