Unraveling the potential of anaerobic digestion in farming

Unraveling the potential of anaerobic digestion in farming

By Blake Jackson

Penn State Extension is spearheading the Grass2Gas webinar series, a platform dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of anaerobic digestion and perennial grasses in agriculture. While anaerobic digestion holds promise for enhancing farm sustainability and reducing environmental impact, it also raises numerous questions and challenges.

On June 25th at 12pm EST, Postdoctoral Scholar Forrest Stagner from Penn State University will lead discussions, drawing insights from stakeholder interviews.

Farmers, policymakers, and industry representatives will have the opportunity to voice their concerns and seek expert opinions on anaerobic digesters and perennial grasses.

The webinar will feature a panel of experts from the C-CHANGE team, addressing key topics such as feedstocks, biogas production, policy implications, economic viability, and life-cycle analysis.

C-CHANGE, a USDA-funded initiative led by Iowa State University in collaboration with Penn State and other partners, aims to explore innovative Renewable Natural Gas opportunities for farms.

Registration for the webinar is free but mandatory, with participants receiving access to a recording of the session. For registration and inquiries, contact Matt Svetz (mcs5753@psu.edu) or Daniel Ciolkosz (dec109@psu.edu).

Join us as we delve into the future of sustainable farming with anaerobic digestion and perennial grasses!
