Ring in the new year by attending the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, a weeklong event celebrating agriculture and family-friendly activities. The Farm Show, running from January 3 to January 11, offers something for everyone with its diverse lineup of educational displays, competitions, and demonstrations.
The event kicks off on Friday, January 3, with exciting activities throughout the week. Sunday features the junior breeding cattle show, market swine show, and homesteading presentations at 8 a.m., followed by a cowboy church service at 10 a.m. Later, there will be a rabbit demonstration and a presentation on Pennsylvania’s forest and wood industry at noon.
Monday's schedule includes an open breeding cattle show and the junior market lamb showmanship contest, while Tuesday brings alpaca and llama shows, a sheep herding competition, and a junior livestock sale.
Wednesday is packed with demonstrations, including antique tractors, horseshoe pitching, and sheep shearing. There’s also a youth fleece-to-shawl contest to look forward to. Thursday features junior dairy goat shows and horsemanship demonstrations, as well as a presentation on grooming Angora rabbits and using their wool.
Friday’s events highlight the open breeding sheep show and dairy cattle competitions, along with a canine spectacular and a meet-and-greet with the PRCA Rodeo Queen. The selection of the supreme champion of dairy breeds will take place in the afternoon.
The final day of the Farm Show, Saturday, January 11, includes the junior breeding sheep show, a meat breeding goat showmanship contest, and a horse-pulling demonstration. The day wraps up with an antique lawn and garden tractor restoration awards presentation.
With plenty to see and do, the Pennsylvania Farm Show is a must-visit event for agriculture enthusiasts and families alike.
