Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) held its annual State Legislative Conference where hundreds of members met with state lawmakers to discuss agriculture's importance and PFB's priorities for 2024.
Governor Shapiro addressed the gathering, highlighting his administration's focus on agriculture. He emphasized permit reform, investment in industry, and inclusion of agriculture in the state budget. He also mentioned the economic significance of agriculture, contributing $132 billion to Pennsylvania's economy.
PFB President Chris Hoffman presented the organization's 2024 priorities during a news conference. Wildlife damage and its impact on farmers' profits were a key concern. PFB is collaborating with legislators to address this issue. Energy, solar power, environmental regulations, the dairy industry, and the state budget were also topics of discussion.
The conference showcased PFB's commitment to consumer education. The Pennsylvania Friends of Ag Foundation's GIANT Immersion Lab was available for tours, aiming to educate consumers about the journey of food from farm to table. Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association also participated, selling milkshakes.
This event served as a platform for PFB to advocate for agriculture, educate consumers, and collaborate with lawmakers to ensure a thriving agricultural sector in Pennsylvania.
