According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent short, 88 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 94 percent adequate and 6 percent surplus.
Spring tillage was 90 percent, near last year's 91 percent.
Pennsylvania barley headed was 45 percent compared to 90 percent in 2021. Oats planted was 80 percent, below both last year's and the 5-year average of 87 and 88 percent, respectively.
Winter wheat headed was 14 percent. Last year, it was 56 percent headed.
Corn planted progressed to 43 percent this week, far behind last year's 73 percent and also behind the 5-year average of 53 percent. Corn emerged was reported at 6 percent compared to 27 percent last year and 23 percent for the 5-year average.
Soybeans planted was 23 percent, far behind last year's 57 percent and the 5-year average of 33 percent.
