The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated several Pennsylvania counties as natural disaster areas following damaging freeze conditions, making eligible agricultural producers eligible for emergency financial assistance through the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
The designation allows farmers in the primary counties of Bedford, Columbia, Snyder, and Union to apply for emergency loans to help recover from disaster-related losses. Producers in several neighboring counties are also eligible for assistance under the program.
FSA emergency loans can be used for a variety of recovery needs, including replacing damaged equipment or livestock, restoring farming operations, and refinancing certain existing debts.
Loan applications will be evaluated based on the extent of agricultural losses, available collateral, and the applicant’s ability to repay the loan.
Farmers seeking assistance must submit their applications by March 1, 2027. Producers are encouraged to contact their local USDA Service Center to report losses, learn about available disaster assistance programs, and begin the application process.
