Pennsylvania crop thrives with favorable conditions

Pennsylvania farmers had 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending October 29, 2023, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 0% very short, 0% short, 96% adequate, and 4% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 0% very short, 8% short, 90% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Crop Progress

  • Corn: 95% mature, 37% harvested
  • Soybeans: 50% harvested
  • Winter wheat: 66% planted, 38% emerged
  • Potatoes: 97% harvested
  • Pasture: 3% good to excellent

Overall, the 2023 Pennsylvania crop season is on track. Farmers are making good progress harvesting corn, soybeans, and potatoes. Winter wheat planting is complete, and the crop is off to a good start. Pasture conditions are good.
