The USDA-NASS, Northeastern Region has released the crop production forecast for November, according to King Whetstone, director of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Northeastern Regional Field Office. The latest survey, which was conducted during the last week of October and the first week of November, included the following commodities:
Corn production is forecast at 121 million bushels, down 28% from 2021. Based on conditions as of November 1, yields are expected to average 142.0 bushels per acre, down 6 bushels from the October forecast and down 27 bushels from the 2021 average. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 850 thousand acres, down 14% from 2021.
Soybean production is forecast at 25.7 million bushels, down 18% from last year. Based on November 1 conditions, yields are expected to average 44.0 bushels per acre, down 2 bushels from last month and down 9 bushels from last year. Area for harvest is forecast at 585 thousand acres, down 2% from 2021.
Production forecasts are released on a monthly basis and do not reflect final production estimates. The next production forecast will be issued December 9.
