Pennsylvania Ag Institute Helps Teachers Explore Farming

Pennsylvania Ag Institute Helps Teachers Explore Farming

By Blake Jackson

PA Friends of Agriculture Education is offering educators an opportunity to expand their agricultural knowledge through its upcoming Ag Institute program scheduled for June 21-26 in State College, Pennsylvania.

The event will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn State College and is designed for PreK-12 teachers, pre-service educators, and community education professionals interested in incorporating agriculture into classroom learning.

The institute combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning experiences at Penn State University and nearby family-owned farms.

Participants will hear directly from farmers, university faculty, and agricultural industry leaders while exploring topics such as crop and livestock production, agricultural innovation, farming history, and future industry trends.

Two learning tracks are available, including a beginner-level option for first-time attendees and an advanced track for returning participants. Both programs include educational tours and interactive sessions that may last up to two hours. Organizers note that attendees should be prepared for extended periods of walking and standing during the event.

The program aims to help educators bring real-world agricultural concepts and experiences into their classrooms.
