Penn State Extension will host a free live webinar on December 1, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM ET, introducing the Master Watershed Steward (MWS) Program and outlining how it benefits communities across Pennsylvania.
The session will focus on the upcoming spring 2026 training program and provide details on how to apply to become a certified Master Watershed Steward one of Penn State Extension’s most impactful and fast-growing volunteer initiatives.
While the webinar is tailored for applicants in York County, individuals from other areas interested in joining their local MWS program are also encouraged to attend.
Participants will gain insights into the vital work MWS volunteers perform, including educating both adults and children about water quality, wildlife habitats, and environmental conservation.
Stewards also take part in hands-on projects such as organizing cleanups, removing invasive species, developing educational materials, and maintaining demonstration gardens.
In addition, they collaborate with local governments on stormwater management projects-designing rain gardens, bioswales, and other green infrastructure solutions.
The webinar will cover key topics such as the training curriculum, partnership opportunities, volunteer activities, and the application process. Registration is required to receive the webinar link, and participants must sign up by December 1, 2025, at 6:30 PM.
This event offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about natural resource conservation and community engagement to learn how to make a meaningful environmental impact.
