The 109th Pennsylvania Farm Show, themed "Powering Pennsylvania," will take place from January 4-11 at the Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. As the largest indoor agricultural event in the U.S., it draws thousands of visitors, including farmers, families, and food enthusiasts. Admission is free, with a $15 fee for on-site parking.
Pennsylvania College of Technology (Penn College) will showcase various skills at its booth (No. 2406) in the Giant Expo Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The activities include laser engraving, wave and motion physics demonstrations, landscape and horticulture Q&A, laparoscopic surgery simulation, heavy equipment operator simulation, military resources for veterans, sheet metal demonstrations, and heat loss demonstrations, highlighting the college's diverse programs.
In the evenings, visitors can engage in additional activities such as button making, using a 3D pen, navigating a remote-controlled car, solving a wood plank brain teaser, and taking selfies with the college’s Wildcat mascot. These evening events will run from 3 to 9 p.m. each day, except for Sunday, Jan. 5, when the Farm Show closes at 8 p.m.
The culinary students from Penn College will also participate in cooking demonstrations on the PA Preferred Culinary Connection Stage. They will join chefs Mike S. Dinan and Mike Ditchfield, presenting various dishes on special days, including Beef & Veal Day, Vegetable Day, and Giant Day. Alumni chefs will also feature their dishes, including Bridget M. Callahan, Kristina M. Wisneski, and Alisha M. Summa. These demonstrations offer visitors the chance to see professional chefs in action and sample their culinary creations.
The Farm Show provides a platform for both students and professionals to connect with attendees while celebrating the agricultural heritage of Pennsylvania. Visitors can enjoy free entry and explore the rich variety of activities, from cooking to technology and agricultural innovations.
