The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) is taking a proactive approach to safety with a press conference on April 15th, 2024, at 10:00 AM. This event coincides with Rural Roads Safety Week, a crucial initiative aimed at reducing the number of accidents involving farm vehicles and motorists on rural roads.
The press conference, hosted at Bill Krug Family Farm (190 Sewing Lane, Loretto, PA 15940), will bring together key stakeholders to address this important issue. Scheduled speakers include:
- Chris Hoffman, President, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau
- Russell Redding, Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
- Larry Shifflet, Executive Deputy Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
- Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (invited)
- Tristan Tappe, Community Affairs Officer, Pennsylvania State Police Troop A
Rural Roads Safety Week serves as a timely reminder for all motorists to exercise extra caution on rural roads, particularly during the busy spring planting season when farm equipment use is at its peak. By fostering awareness and open communication, the PFB and its collaborating partners hope to minimize the risk of accidents and ensure the safety of both farmers and the traveling public.
