According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Pennsylvania, there were 5.0 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 10 percent short, 89 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 94 percent adequate and 6 percent surplus.
Spring tillage in Pennsylvania finally reached 95 percent.
Corn planted was 63 percent, far behind last year's 84 percent and the 5-year average of 73 percent. Corn emerged was reported at 23 percent.
Soybeans planted was 49 percent, also far behind last year 69 percent but even with the 5-year average of 50 percent. Soybeans emerged was 11 percent.
Winter wheat headed was 43 percent, almost have of last year's 82 percent in the same period.
Barley headed was 60 percent, behind last year's 94 percent. Oats planted was 90 percent, about even with last year and the 5-year average. Oats emerged was 64 percent, behind last year's 74 percent and the 5-year average of 82 percent.
First cutting of alfalfa hay was 13 percent complete, lagging last year's 45 percent.
