Learn Pennsylvania Milk Label Laws in Free Webinar June 26

By Blake Jackson

The Pennsylvania Association of Milk Dealers (PAMD) and the Center for Dairy Excellence will host a free educational webinar for dairy processors on Thursday, June 26, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The session, titled “Navigating PA’s Regulatory and Labeling Requirements,” is part of an ongoing webinar series aimed at encouraging collaboration and innovation within the dairy supply chain.

Karie Williams and Jessica Gehr, both Milk Program Specialists with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Sciences, will lead the presentation. They will address key aspects of the state’s Grade A Milk Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO), recent updates to regulations, and essential labeling requirements for both Grade A and non-Grade A dairy facilities and products.

“From regulations and recent changes to understanding the basics of dairy labeling requirements, our speakers have valuable insights and updates to share,” said Jayne Sebright, Executive Director at the Center for Dairy Excellence. “This webinar will help Pennsylvania dairy processors gain a better understanding of PA’s regulatory and labeling requirements so you can better navigate this complex area of your business.”

Williams has served with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) for 11 years and currently oversees regulatory enforcement of dairy production statewide. Williams is the lead State Rating Officer and Sampling Surveillance Officer for Grade A plants and farms.

Williams also represents Pennsylvania in national organizations such as NCIMS and NADRO and holds a master’s degree in public health from Ohio State University.

Gehr, who has been with PDA for two years, specializes in dairy label approvals across all facility types. Gehr prior experience includes over two decades in the dairy industry, covering roles in milk plant operations, lab management, and manufacturing.

She earned her biology degree from Lycoming College and an associate’s degree from the University of Maryland while living in Japan.
