Join the private pesticide applicator workshop

By Blake Jackson

The Private Pesticide Applicator Short Course is an essential in-person workshop designed to prepare participants for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) private pesticide certification exam.

The course will be held on December 11, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 3:15 PM and December 12, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Dauphin County Agriculture and Natural Resources Center, located at 1451 Peters Mountain Rd, Dauphin, PA.

This two-day event offers an in-depth review of key material from the Pesticide Core and Supplemental Manual. It includes presentations covering each chapter of the core manual, followed by small group activities and breaks to reinforce the information.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with a Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Agronomics Inspector to ask any questions regarding the exam.

The registration deadline is December 9, 2024, at 11:59 PM, and participants must preregister to attend. It is important to bring your own study materials, specifically the updated Private Pesticide Applicator CORE study manual. If you're using previously purchased materials, ensure they contain the most current versions.

While the course prepares participants for the certification exam, the exam itself is not offered during the event. Attendees can schedule their exam through the Pesticide Exam Search.

This course is ideal for individuals looking to apply restricted-use pesticides on their property or farm and those seeking certification as Private Applicators. The workshop will teach safe pesticide handling practices, providing the necessary knowledge to pass the licensing exam.
