Penn State Extension is hosting an information session on November 20, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET to introduce the Spring 2026 Master Watershed Steward (MWS) training program.
This session is designed to help prospective volunteers understand how they can apply to become Master Watershed Stewards, part of one of Penn State Extension’s fastest growing and most impactful volunteer initiatives. Registration is required to receive the webinar link, and the session is free of charge.
The program is ideal for residents of Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lebanon Counties, though individuals from other areas are welcome to attend and will be guided on connecting with their local MWS program.
Master Watershed Stewards engage in a wide range of activities, including educating both adults and children about water quality, wildlife habitats, and the environment.
Volunteers also develop educational materials, organize events, conduct clean-ups, remove invasive plants, design and maintain demonstration gardens, and participate in stream monitoring and research projects.
Additionally, they collaborate with municipal officials on stormwater management projects such as bioswales, raingardens, native meadows, and other green solutions.
During the webinar, attendees will learn about the volunteer roles, partnerships developed through the program, the curriculum topics covered in training, the application process, and any associated program costs or fees.
A recorded version of the webinar will be emailed to registrants within ten business days of the live session and will remain accessible for six months.
This session offers a valuable opportunity for individuals interested in natural resource conservation, environmental education, and community engagement.
