Horizon Farm Credit's Grants Empower New Farmers

Horizon Farm Credit's Grants Empower New Farmers

Horizon Farm Credit, a local agricultural lender in Pennsylvania, has initiated its JumpStart program for 2023, providing grant funding to support the establishment and growth of new farming ventures.

The JumpStart grant program aims to assist entrepreneurs in the start-up phase of their agricultural businesses.

It offers $10,000 grants to top applicants and is part of the comprehensive Grow Ahead program, which provides additional resources and support for individuals venturing into agriculture.

This year, 15 deserving applicants will receive JumpStart grants. To be eligible for the program, applicants must be at least 18 years old by July 31, 2023, have two years or less of farming experience (or plan to begin farming within the next two years), and reside within Horizon Farm Credit's territory.

The application period runs from June 1 to July 31, 2023, and there is no application fee.

"The future of our industry lies in the hands of beginning farmers," stated Tom Truitt, Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Farm Credit.

"Through JumpStart grants, Farm Credit is committed to providing holistic support to these producers, enabling them to pursue their dreams and achieve long-term financial success."

Horizon Farm Credit is an agricultural lending cooperative that operates as part of the national Farm Credit System.

It serves farmers in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, offering loans for land, equipment, livestock, crop insurance, and rural home mortgages.
