Free Field Walk for Berry and Greenhouse Growers

Free Field Walk for Berry and Greenhouse Growers

By Blake Jackson

Growers will have an opportunity to take part in the Greenhouse and Berry Crops Field Walk at Twin Springs Fruit Farm, an event designed to share practical techniques and create connections among producers.

This no-cost evening workshop highlights fruit, vegetable, and leafy green production while allowing farmers to learn directly from experts and each other.

The event is geared toward growers interested in several production areas, including plasticulture strawberries, raspberry and blueberry management, and greenhouse leafy greens. By joining the tour, participants can gain new ideas and insights to bring back to their farms.

Key learning topics include strategies for planting bare root strawberry plants on plastic, identifying and responding to current issues affecting raspberry and blueberry crops, and effective methods for producing arugula and spring mixes in greenhouse systems.

These sessions are designed to provide information that can be applied quickly and effectively in farm operations.

Hosted at Twin Springs Fruit Farm, the event offers a chance to explore a diversified operation known for its tree fruit, berry, field, and greenhouse crops. Participants will meet the farm manager, connect with fellow growers, and take part in discussions aimed at addressing real-world production challenges.

The program is supported by the Pennsylvania Vegetable Growers Association and the Mid-Atlantic Strawberry Growers Association. Light refreshments will be provided, and sturdy footwear is recommended since the workshop will take place outdoors.

While registration is not required, advance sign-up is encouraged and appreciated to help with planning. This event is open to all interested growers at no cost, reflecting a strong commitment to supporting farm communities with practical education and collaboration opportunities.

By combining hands-on demonstrations, peer networking, and expert insights, the field walk provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen farm knowledge, improve production practices, and support the success of growers in the region.
