Pennsylvania Farm Bureau (PFB) has presented Fayette County Farm Bureau member Darrell Becker with the 2022 Distinguished Local Affairs Leader Award during the farm organization's 72nd Annual Meeting in Hershey. The award recognizes an outstanding individual, whose local affairs efforts and activities have helped solve problems and improve rural living for county Farm Bureau members.
Becker has been at the forefront of organizing a series of Agriculture Roundtable discussions hosted by Fayette County commissioners. Becker also helped lead the way as an advocate, arranging multiple Farm Bureau events to showcase the importance and farmland preservation in Fayette County.
"Darrell has shown true leadership in promoting the legislative needs of Farm Bureau and its members at the county and state level," PFB President Rick Ebert said. "His efforts in Fayette County have made an impact in educating the public about the needs of farmers, which is important for all of us."
Becker had been instrumental in bringing Farm to Table Dinners and other outreach events to Fayette County which helped promote the mission of Farm Bureau.
"I am humbled and honored. This is a fantastic opportunity for me to share what we do here in Fayette County and how to make Farm Bureau better in general," Becker said. "We all have to share what we know and what we do best, and that's our strength. We talk to surrounding counties, and we share ideas. That to me, is the key to being successful."
