By Blake Jackson

Wheat growers, crop consultants, grain industry professionals, and millers across the Mid-Atlantic region will have an opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in soft wheat production during the Mid-Atlantic Soft Wheat Tour Field Walk on June 11, 2026.

The educational event will be hosted by Penn State Extension at the Penn State Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

The free afternoon program is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. and will focus on management practices that help producers achieve high-quality milling wheat.

Participants will hear presentations from industry and extension experts covering several key topics affecting wheat production.

Discussions will include updates on federal agricultural issues and policy, recent fungicide efficacy research, and strategies for managing nitrogen applications and plant growth regulators to optimize crop performance.

Featured speakers include Sam Kieffer of the National Association of Wheat Growers, along with Penn State Extension specialists Alyssa Collins and Daniela Carrijo.

Following the field walk, a barbecue dinner will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Manheim Community Farm Show, located at 502 East Adele Avenue.

Those wishing to attend the dinner must register and submit payment by noon on May 29. For reservations and additional information, contact Courtney Love at 223-259-8625 or clove@pennag.com.
