Farm Bureau urges members to communicate peer-to-peer with bird owners in their communities, be they commercial producers or neighbors with backyard flocks, about the need for robust biosecurity in the face of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). HPAI is a serious threat to Pennsylvania’s poultry industry, and indeed to the Commonwealth’s agricultural economy.
As avian influenza cases continue to increase across Pennsylvania, such outreach is especially important, particularly in communities which have historically been more difficult to reach with information of this type. More information will be forthcoming shortly to county Farm Bureaus about this issue.
